Nurses on Call is locally owned and operated. The founder, Leslie McElveen passed away June 18th, 2020. Leslie was a nurse for 30 years and had experience in areas from geriatrics to emergency nursing. She was active in the day-to-day operations of Nurses on Call and had an open door policy to clients as well as employees. Nurses on Call are now operated by Leslie’s son, William Self, and daughter in law, Michelle Self. Michelle worked under Leslie for over 15 years prior to her passing. They plan to keep Leslie’s open door policy and run this company to best of their abilities. After opening in 1997 Nurses on Call expanded so fast Leslie was forced with the decision to quit her full time job and work for herself. At that time she was employed in the emergency room at Wilson Medical Center and loved her job. It was a difficult decision but she had no regrets. Nurses on Call continues to grow and has two offices in South Carolina. Nurses on Call is constantly looking for ways to expand and we would love to make you a part of our family.
